Terms and Conditions and Things to Know
ABOUT US. John Bowers trading as Johns Lilies, Wimbotsham, Norfolk, PE34 3QB. Tel/Fax: 01366 386286, e-mail: info@johnbowersdaylilies.co.uk, website: www.johnbowersdaylilies.co.uk
DESPATCH TIMES. Plants are despatched all year round, the only exception perhaps being a slight delay if the weather is very hot in the Summer or severely cold in the Winter. We pride ourselves on a very prompt efficient dispatch service - as a constant Mail Order plant buyer myself I know how frustrating it is to have to wait for the plants to arrive! If there is a delay of any kind with your order, for whatever reason, you will be notified, otherwise you can expect your plants to arrive within a few days. Normal post is used for small parcels, larger orders are sent by a registered parcel force service.
CULTURAL GUIDE. Dealing with all important aspects of culture, planting and aftercare will be included with all orders.
CWO PLEASE. Payment by cheque, P,O's, or cash sent in a registered envelope. Please make cheques payable to John Bowers. Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Delta or American Express are also accepted.
HOW TO VIEW JOHN BOWERS DAYLILIES. The collection is now housed in its entirety at Whispering Trees Nursery, Wimbotsham. It is possible to view the plants in bloom and also to purchase many varieties ex-stock. The main bloom season if you wish to plan a visit is mid June to September, although some lilies can be seen in flower for some weeks before and after these times. Whispering Trees Nurseries is open 7 days 10.00am - 1.00pm, 2.00pm - 4.00 pm. and staff are always present. HOWEVER to obtain specialist advice it is strongly advised that you telephone first so that I can be there to see to your requirements personally, and this is especially important if you feel you may wish to purchase plants on spec. Please also remember that not all varieties may be available at any one time. If you wish to collect specific varieties it is best to order in advance. A warm thank you to all of you who took the time and trouble to visit last year. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Daylily enthusiasts and new beginners, new and old! A newly landscaped and larger area is now devoted to them to make your visit even more worthwhile.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE DO NOT include plants from this Catalogue in your order to Whispering Trees Nurseries or vice-versa, the business and accounts are quite separate.
POSTAL CHARGES. Please add £6.95 to your order. Please use the order form if included, otherwise ordinary writing paper with your full name and address and requirements is perfectly acceptable. Telephone orders are welcome.
PLANTS ARE OFFERED SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. Many are in short supply, especially the newer and sought after varieties. It is impossible to predict demand for a particular variety. It is very helpful if you are able to offer a list of acceptable alternatives and if you do allow this we always send plants to a greater value. If substitutes are definitely not acceptable please mark this clearly and give us your instructions (i.e. whether you would prefer to wait for the variety to become available etc.)
A NOTE ON VARIETAL VARIATIONS. It is possible for some variation in flower tone and scape height to be evident with some varieties - often they do not bloom entirely true the first season or two until established. Also varietal characteristics are subject to variation due to the conditions under which they are grown. Colours, especially more subtle ones, can be slightly different depending on how much sun they get, and the height can vary also. In short you can rely on the accuracy of the descriptions in this catalogue and in the majority of cases your plants will bloom and behave just as expected. But please remember this when you first evaluate your plants and give discrepancies the benefit of the doubt, especially the first season or two. You will see that some varieties will actually change a little from one season to another according to the Summer!
MINIMUM ORDER. There is no minimum order, all orders are welcome.
PRICES. All prices will remain the same until a new brochure is issued.
RETURNS AND CANCELLATION OF ORDER. Once an order is accepted, stock has to be reserved and your order processed etc. and very considerable administrative costs are incurred. Except for very exceptional circumstances a cancellation charge of £5.00 or 10% of the order value (whichever is the greater) will be deducted from the refund. This, of course, does not apply to normal refunds.
You have the right to return your order within 7 working days if you change your mind. Cancellation must be in writing (post, fax or email) and you must take reasonable care of the goods. Goods must be returned by recorded or registered service, all payable by customer. We will then refund your money as soon as possible within 30 days.
COMPLAINTS. If goods are proven to be faulty or do not comply with the Sale of Goods Act 1979 we will offer a replacement or refund and pay for their return.
GENERAL TERMS OF BUSINESS. All plants are inspected prior to despatch but if on receipt of your order, you are not entirely satisfied for any reason, this should be returned to us within 7 days so that immediate action can be taken to ensure your satisfaction.
The plants always leave our nursery in first class condition and their continuing good health is now in your hands.
Failures should not occur and, as we have no control over the planting and general after-care, we cannot accept responsibility for failures. Full advice is given in our catalogue or is available on request. We are, however, always here for help and advice should a problem occur.
We cannot be held responsible for loses caused by exceptional frosts, droughts ,floods etc., over which neither the supplier, nor the gardener has control.
